Bonjour mes amis! We hit the jackpot on cute, small and off-the-beaten-path cafes. This darling coffee shop, named "Le Loir Dans La Theiere” (translating to “The Doormouse in the Teapot"), was hidden on the cobble streets of le Marais, the Jewish quarter of France. It was a well needed break from a day of walking; it was getting quite chilly so I decided to try the house hot chocolate (left, top). A rich and warming drink that went perfectly with the house specialty - Lemon Meringue (left, bottom). The meringue was fluffy and full of body, while the pie was sweet with a simple but strong hint of sour from the fresh lemons. I can gladly say that lemon meringues have been making some special appearances in my dreams for the past few nights. More deliciousness to come in Paris Part II and then we’re off to Dortmund! |
