I took my first adventure outside of Dortmund to the beautiful city of Cologne (Köln to be proper) with some new friends. We had a nice morning workout with a climb up 533 steps to the top of the ever-famous Cathedral and then stopped on the river for lunch. Get this - Cologne has a Schokoladenmuseum. A CHOCOLATE MUSEUM. A plethora of wonderful smells and tastes (there was every kind of chocolate imaginable), and I even learned a thing or two about chocolate production! After that lovely stop, we decided to just hang out on the river and people watch - a beautiful view and a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Finally, we topped off the trip with dinner in the most European of squares at the most German of restaurants. Currywurst and fries, classic German food, was eaten all around. The currywurst was juicy, mild (haven't found any spicy German food to date) and full of flavor and the fries were fresh and delicious. |
